In 1999, Jim Brennan, the owner of Structurally Speaking, went to work for the Raleigh division of the largest deck and porch builder in the United States. For a decade, Jim stood out and established himself as the Raleigh, NC branch’s top designer in terms of the number of projects designed and built.

It was during this time that Jim realized it was his individual approach that was the key to his overall success in the deck and screened porch industry. With this at the forefront of his mind, in 2008 he decided to form a company based on those principles — the result was Structurally Speaking.
